Winnipeg, MB Invisalign Straightens Teeth Without Braces

The past two decades have seen the introduction of orthodontic treatment options other than traditional metal braces. One of the most popular, used by more than 5 million people since it was introduced in 2000, is Invisalign. This system uses a series of clear plastic aligners instead of metal brackets and wires to straighten teeth.

Because Invisalign aligners are clear, they are less noticeable by your peers or colleagues. So they’re a common choice for patients in professions where appearance is especially important, or for any Invisalign candidate who feels self-conscious about their smile.

In addition to their discreet appearance, other Invisalign benefits can include:

  • Comfort. With no metal to rub against cheeks and gums, many people find aligners more comfortable than braces.
  • Convenience. You can remove aligners for eating, so you won’t have to avoid foods because of concern they could get caught in your braces. These clear aligners also make it easier to keep your teeth clean, as you can brush and floss while your aligners are out.
  • Length of treatment. According to Align Technology, the makers of the system, the average Invisalign treatment time for adults is 12 months.

We Offer Other Orthodontics Options Too

In addition to Invisalign aligners, Lakewood Dental Centre offers several other orthodontic treatment options, one of which may be right for your smile. Our dentists will assess you at your first orthodontic appointment, with a complete exam and a discussion of your smile goals. Depending on your needs, they may recommend treatment with Invisalign or one of these other aligners:

  • Smart Moves
  • K-Line clear aligners (short-term only)

If braces are a better choice for you, we can use metal braces with either stainless steel wires or wires made of a titanium-nickel blend called nitinol. Nitinol wires remember being straight. So, when they’re curved around your teeth, they’re constantly trying to return to a straight line, which creates gentle pressure on your teeth. That pressure then nudges your teeth into straighter positions. Nitinol braces typically refer fewer adjustments during the course of treatment. We also offer tooth-coloured braces.
