Excellence in dentistry is a team effort at Lakewood Dental Centre in Winnipeg, MB. Meet the team that Dr. Dhillon and our dentists are proud to work with every day.
Debbie has more than 30 years of dental administrative experience and has gained some chairside dental assisting knowledge over the years. She completed a year of Arts education at the University of Manitoba and has completed several continuing education and special interests courses.
She brought her expertise to Lakewood Dental Centre in 1997. She feels right at home as a member of our friendly team working in a professional, progressive Winnipeg, MB dental office.
In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family, especially her adorable grandchildren. She also enjoys travel, choir, painting landscapes, and the great outdoors.
Devin works as both a dental receptionist and a dental assistant at Lakewood Dental Centre. So, you might hear her friendly voice over the phone or see her smiling face beside you at the dental chair. She’s a registered level II dental assistant who graduated from CDI College with honors in 2011. She truly enjoys her work alongside Dr. McDermid, Dr. Dhillon, and the rest of the team.
Outside of work, Devin leads a full life filled with family game nights, camping, bonfires, and fishing. She is also an avid reader. Most important to her is spending as much time as possible with her daughter, Serenity.
Lakewood Dental Centre welcomed Tanya to the team in 2011. She has 15 years of experience. She appreciates the opportunity to interact daily with the patients and staff at Lakewood.
She and her husband have experienced many years of wedding bliss and are the proud parents of two beautiful children. She spends most of her time outside the office at the ice rink cheering on her children as they play ringette and hockey.
April is celebrating more than a decade of service with Lakewood Dental Centre. She has been working in office administration since 2000 and in the dental field since 2004. She loves our patients and the kindness of Dr. McDermid and Dr. Dhillon.
When she isn’t at Lakewood putting a smile on our patients’ faces, April reads with her 3-year-old and 5-year-old sons and binge watches Lord of the Rings movies.
Kim has been with us since 2018 and in dentistry since 2017. Her favorite part of working here is the people – both our team members and our patients. When she’s not helping patients feel welcome and answering their questions at our office, she is most likely spending time with friends, family, and her two family dogs. She also likes going to their cabin.
Colette has enjoyed working with Dr. McDermid, Dr. Dhillon, and her co-workers at Lakewood Dental Centre in Winnipeg, MB since 2005. She is a registered dental/orthodontic assistant who graduated from Red River Community College in 1991. She has taken specialized courses in orthodontics and dental implants. She completes continuing education courses annually.
She considers it a privilege to be a member of our team and finds caring for our wonderful patients highly rewarding. When not at the office, she relaxes with friends and family. She loves to watch her girls play volleyball and is an outdoor enthusiast who loves to camp and garden.
Two years after completing her studies at CDI College in 2010, Sara joined our team at Lakewood Dental Centre. She is a registered dental assistant who enjoys educating and helping patients manage their oral health. Learning about new procedures keeps her role fun and exciting.
Her hobbies include enjoying the great outdoors, photography, and gardening.
Kelly is a newer member of the Lakewood Dental Centre team, but she has been practicing as a Phase II Dental Assistant since graduating from Red River College in 2009 with honors. She’s had an exceptional time getting to know her teammates and our patients.
When she’s not here caring for patients, she’s at home caring for her daughter, spending quality time with family and friends, or going to the lake in the summer.
A level II dental assistant, Cheyenne joined the Lakewood Dental Centre team in early 2018. She graduated from CDI College and has been involved in dentistry for two years. She finds it fulfilling to relieve nervous patients of their dental anxiety by providing a positive dental experience. Her hobbies include baking, spending time with her family, and enjoying the outdoors.
Gloria is a registered dental assistant, level II. She has been helping patients since she began her career in 2018, and she joined our team in 2019. Gloria was an honour graduate and continues her education with annual courses. She loves spending her days with our patients and helping them feel comfortable while they improve their smiles. In her free time, Gloria enjoys spending quality time with her family, especially her young niece, Jasmine, and friends. She also volunteers with music and media at Springs Church and enjoys camping, road trips, biking, and hiking.
Bev joined Lakewood Dental Centre in 2000, shortly after graduating from the University of Manitoba School of Dental Hygiene. She’s an active member of the Canadian Dental Hygienists Association and the College of Dental Hygienists of Manitoba. She’s undergone continuing education in orthodontics, CPR, and local anesthetics.
Bev enjoys spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren as well as her large group of extended family members and friends.
Kiran considers the Lakewood Dental Centre team, Dr. McDermid, and Dr. Dhillon her second family. She joined us in 2009, a year after graduating from the Yorkville College Dental Hygiene Diploma program. She is a recipient of Yorkville’s Excellence in Academics award. She also completed her local anesthetic module at the University of Manitoba.
She finds satisfaction in helping patients and educating them in dental health. Kiran is a proud member of both the College of Dental Hygienists of Manitoba and the Canadian Dental Hygienists Association.
In India, Kiran taught for a decade. She has a Bachelor of Arts and Nursery Teachers Training. She is multilingual, so you might hear her speaking English, Punjabi, Hindi, Urdu, and even a little French.
Jessica is a recent graduate and joins our team as a registered dental hygienist. She completed her program with honors and received a gold medal in dental hygiene and the Governor General’s bronze medal. Jessica has also completed her local anesthetic module.
She spends her free time with her dog, Sophie. She likes to cook, travel, and read, and the office loves her baking.
Alex joined our team in 2018. She graduated from the University of Manitoba with a certificate in dental hygiene. She is also certified in pain management by use of local anesthesia. Alex was awarded the Hu Friedy Golden Scaler Award and was inducted into Sigma Phi Alpha, the National Dental Hygiene Honor Society. The best part of Alex’s job is meeting new people and giving them the skills and tools needed for them to feel great about their oral health and smile. When away from the office, Alex enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoys painting and drawing.
Tam brings over 35 years of dental experience to Lakewood Dental Centre. Born and raised in Winnipeg, she studied arts and sciences at the University of Toronto and the University of Manitoba. She completed her Diploma in Dental Hygiene at the University of Manitoba in 2000 and returned several years later to complete her extended practice in local anaesthetic, restorative, and orthodontic modules. Tam has been involved with the University of Manitoba’s student hygienist mentorship program as well as being on the council of the Code of Ethics and a Rural Representative for hygienists.
Tam is proud to work at Lakewood Dental Centre. Her special interest and passion is treating and preventing periodontal disease, a skill set she has honed by working with periodontists. Tam is kind and friendly and works hard to ensure every patient feels comfortable, relaxed, and empowered with knowledge regarding their condition. Sometimes you can hear Tam having fun with the kiddos while she wows them by having them wiggle their fingers and toes for a ride in the dental chair!
In her spare time, Tam loves to volunteer for organizations, which she has been doing for over 35 years. Some of these organizations include the children’s hospital, the YMCA-YWCA, dog shelters, and Nature Manitoba bird watch. She has traveled to Asia, across Canada, and to the United States.
